We hope you are all well .
The Chief Dental Officer has now announced that dental practices across England will be allowed to begin the process of reopening for all emergency and routine face to face dental care from Monday 8th June.
Throughout the pandemic, we have been clear that our first priority is the wellbeing of our patients and colleagues and this continues to be the case. As a result, Dental Elegance will be reopening on a limited capacity first to deal with emergencies.
It is likely that some treatments will be available before others as there are different PPE requirements for different treatments. We are working through the detail of this as quickly as possible and will be communicating directly with you soon with more information about when we will be open. In the meantime if you need advice, or if you are in need of urgent dental treatment, you should continue to contact the practice for help and advice .
We are determined to support patients who need care as quickly as possible and will be opening Dental Elegance to provide further treatments as soon as we are safely able to do so. We will keep you fully informed throughout this process.
Dental Elegance team
All dentists and hygienists provide home teeth whitening at Dental Elegance, Sidcup. There are two types we offer; home whitening and in-surgery whitening. Both techniques use a gel system which contains the whitening agent.
Having treatment at home allows patients to benefit from whitening results in the comfort of their own home. This technique means your teeth gradually lighten, usually over 2 weeks.
The treatment involves the dentist or hygienist taking an impression of your teeth to provide you with your custom-made trays. You are provided with the trays and a number of gels which contain the whitening agent. The gel is placed into the trays and worn for a certain period of time. In most cases, this is around 35 minutes a day for 2 weeks, or until you are happy with the colour of your teeth. At-home whitening treatments are effective and can be topped up to preserve the results. Once you have the trays, you can buy the gels from us if you require more.
This procedure is undertaken in the dental surgery. The appointment lasts around 2 hours, and teeth are instantly lighter. We recommend that home whitening is followed up after in-surgery whitening.
The treatment involves taking the shade of your teeth before the procedure. We use a protective gel and some cotton wool rolls to protect your gums and lips from the whitening agent. We place the whitening gel onto your teeth and then an LED light is used, which activates the gel for 15 minutes. The gel is then removed off of your teeth. This process is repeated another 3 times.
We will always make sure you are comfortable throughout the treatment. At the end, we will remove all the whitening gel and gum protection. We take final photos and a shade guide will be used again to measure the results, which will be instant. We then provide you with the home whitening kit to top-up to preserve the results.
Home whitening kits provide results over a longer time scale, whereas in-surgery tooth whitening offers immediate results. A combination of the two provides the perfect solution to both immediate and long-term whitening needs.
