We repaired this with a composite resin white filling which is bonded to the healthy remaining tooth structure. The filling will protect the tooth from fracturing and the patient no longer shows a dark metal filled tooth in her smile.

Porcelain onlay are much stronger than white fillings and they can be used in many cases instead of crowns. The colour of the onlay can match your tooth exactly .Lots of our patients are asking us to remove their mercury amalgam fillings and replace them with white porcelain onlays.
